Flying High: What to Expect in Your First Aerial Yoga Class

Aerial Yoga in Singapore

Aerial Yoga is one of the most striking from visual stand point and experiential forms of yoga that become popular in Singapore today. By using a silk hammock hanging from the ceiling, this practice blends traditional yoga, Pilates, and gentle acrobatics.

It molds into a supportive, active, and therapeutic experience. For many first time practitioners, this exercise feels unfamiliar but exciting. But, if it comes with the right guidance, it can be safe, accessible, and rewarding.

What is Aerial Yoga?

Based on practice itself, this kind of yoga uses a fabric hammock, which also called a yoga swing or silk, to support the body during moves like stretches, balances, and inversions.

It is not replacing traditional yoga, but enhances it by reducing joint compression, allowing spinal release get deeper, and creating new movement possibilities.

Things that make it differ from acrobatics or circus training, most Aerial Yoga classes focus on mindfulness, alignment, and controlled movement instead of performance.

5. Relaxation in the Hammock

Most sessions will end with a restorative pose. This is where you will rest gently wrapped in hammock, allowing nervous system to calm and relieve.

Rest in hammock could reduces compression in the spine, helping to relieve back tension and improve posture over time.

3. Flexibility and Joint Mobility

The silk supports deeper stretches while at same time protecting joints from hyperextended.

4. Stress Relief and Mindfulness
